Lanzarote is one of the main tourist islands in the Canary Islands. As it is close to the west coast of Africa, Lanzarote offers all year round heat. This also provides what locals call the “Saharan Winds” that blow over from the Sahara desert. All this couples with the exceptional beaches and warm seas makes it obvious why Lanzarote holidays are so popular. Most people chose to go back to Lanzarote year after year. Here there are some highlights based on my experience of Lanzarote.
Cueva de los Verdes
Lanzarote is a volcanic island, the Cueva de los Verdes were created from an eruption over 3000 years ago at La Corona. You will see the colour of the walls are an amazing green colour, which is why its been named Cueva de los Verdes which can be translated to Green Caves. The calm waters in the beautiful makes the waters look almost mirror like.It is only when you break the water that you can see it is just a reflection.
Jameos del Agua Cave
This is located quite close to Cueva de los Verdes which is a nice surprise. {Jameos del Agua is a volcanic forms cave~Jameos del Agua Cave {is a volcanic formed cave}~is a beautiful cave formed because of the eruption}. Jameo refers to a cave with a collapsed roof. This complex looks completely tropical, with its white sand, turquoise pools and palm trees it is a must to visit and relax here.
Timanfaya National Park
The Timanfaya Park is 51sq kilometres of volcanic soil and landscape~The Timanfaya Park {is popular for its volcanicsoil and lunar landscape}~{is famous for its amazing lunar landscape and volcanic soil}~is famous for the amazing views of lunar landscape and volcanic rock}.You will feel like you are on another planet when you are in the park, the lanscape is lunar and feels like you are actually on the moon. For an amazing trip, take some time to tour the park.On boarding these busses you entrust the driver with your life, the roads are only just wide enough for the bus. They weave you around craters up hills and take you to some of the best views that the park has to offer.
You will be lucky enough to have a meal cooked by volcanic heat
The most impressive moment of the tour is at the Restaurant el Diablo. Before you visit the restaurant you will see how the volcano is still active. There are 3 ways they do this. There is a natural cavity in the floor that goes down a fair way; the first experiment you see is the guide placing some straw into the cavity.Only a few seconds will pass before the straw burns and turns into flames. The next experiment has a tube that goes into the ground a few feet. They will dramatically pour some cold water and wait until only 3 seconds late steam and water shoots out, often making all the tourists jump.
Outside of the restaurant their is a big hole which the restaurant uses for cooking its food from its natural heat. You are allowed to look in and you can feel the heat of what’s below. As the floor here is really hot you need to move fast, you will be able to feel the soles of your shoes melting. Then you finally sit down for your set menu while watching the sun set over the view of the lava fields.Lanzarote promises to give you a memorable experience that you would expect from this popular destination.
